Glassboro Police Respond to Violent Encounter at Domino’s

The tranquility of a Saturday morning was shattered in Glassboro, New Jersey, when a routine law enforcement response escalated into a full-blown brawl at a local Domino’s Pizza. A disturbing surveillance footage of the incident shows two men violently attacking an officer with a chair, according to Glassboro Police Department.

The officer was reportedly hit on the head with the chair during the wild scuffle. As the violent scene unfolded, the officer, despite the sudden attack, managed to keep his composure and continue his duty to protect the public.

The melee broke out at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Domino’s Pizza on Delsea Drive. The officer, who was responding to a disturbance call, was suddenly ambushed by two individuals. As seen in the surveillance video, the men were talking amongst themselves before one of them suddenly picked up a chair and hurled it at the unsuspecting officer, striking him in the head.

Despite the surprising and violent assault, the officer was able to retain his weapon and continue the engagement, calling for backup in the process. The two assailants, upon noticing the officer’s resilience, attempted to flee the scene but were apprehended by the responding backup.

Officer’s Condition and Charges

The officer, whose name has been withheld for privacy reasons, was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. He was treated for a concussion and minor injuries. He was released later in the day, and according to a police statement, is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.

The two suspects, identified as 25-year-old James Smith and 24-year-old Devin Johnson, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstruction.
